The Swiss manufacturer of professional 3D printers Sintratec has released a software solution called Nesting, which allows for automatic placement of models in additive systems based on selective laser sintering (SLS) technology with optimal use of the build volume.
3D printing software often makes users puzzle over the volume of the build chamber, so they have to rotate and reposition their models in such a way as to save time and consumables as much as possible. Besides, this hassle usually yields only mediocre results. With the fully integrated Nesting solution, users of Sintratec 3D printers can leave this all behind.
Imported 3D models are analyzed and optimally positioned in the cylindrical working area of the Sintratec S2 printer with one click. Sintratec Nesting Solution not only performs calculations faster than competitive software but also allows you to achieve higher density of model positioning.
The loading density of the build area is the key factor in optimizing the performance of additive systems based on the technology of selective laser sintering of polymer powders (SLS), which does not require the construction of support structures. Depending on the geometry of models, Sintratec algorithms can achieve densities up to twice that of manual placement, with the consequent savings in available usable volume.
The integration of the Nesting solution makes Sintratec S2 3D printers even more attractive production systems by reducing material costs and increasing the degree of automation. With Nesting, the savings on a hundred print jobs can be 50 hours of working time for maintenance personnel, 46 kilograms of powder, and 800 hours of operating time for the equipment itself.
